London Virgin Marathon 2013‏

by Antonia

“The London Virgin Marathon is taking place this month on Sunday the 21st April and Carers Trust have 5 runners taking part this year including 3 members from the co-operative partnership. I am recruiting members of staff to volunteer and be part of the Carers Trust Cheering Squad, don’t worry you won’t have to wear small cheerleading costumes but will need to bring your waving arms and screaming voices on the day. Even if you can only come along for a short while your support would be much appreciated by our runners, and I’ll be out early to do some celebrity spotting.

We will be based in the same place as last year, sharing our cheering point with Build Africa. This will be on the right hand corner between miles 17 and 18  which you can view on the marathon website’s interactive map here  http://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/interactive-map/ .

The closest station is South Quay on the DLR, and extra trains will be running throughout the day.

For our Carers Trust runners, we anticipate that they will reach mile 17  between 12.30 – 13.30 so this is the point in the day where your moral support will be most needed and appreciated!

For more detailed timings you can see the times runners are expected to reach each check point by visiting http://static.london-marathon.co.uk/uploads/training_centre/2010-virgin-london-marathon-race-timings.pdf .

Below is a list of our runners and their fundraising pages, due to dropouts they were all signed up at the last stage of the registration deadline. So please feel free to show them support  on their fundraising journey.

It would be fantastic if we had a good turnout of Carers Trust staff & you, supporting them on the day, if you would like to be part of the cheering squad.” Please email fundraising@carers.org.

Also Rob who works with the charity PDSA (People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals), is running tomorrow, thanks to Rob for  sending this intriguing infographic  . You can donate here !!
