Fundraising for Carers Event Recap
As you may know i held a fundraising event on Sunday 4th August 2013 to raise funds/awareness about Carers and the work Carers Trust and Carers Lewisham do to help Carers in the U.K. This was my first time ever organizing an event which was challenging but amazing at the same time, i’ve met some lovely people in the process. The guests mingled with each other and were intrigued with the lovely designs from Jewel Kiss, Friday Born Designs, Na Nubiah and merchandises from Carers Trust and Carers Lewisham while my awesome DJ played some bangers!! Unfortunately Bespoke Bites and Ugly Duckling were not able to attend.
Once the guests arrived and had settled down after some snacks (bought/made by my friends) and food (made by my Aunt & i) i welcomed everyone to the event and thanked everyone for attending, shortly after Lydie from Carers Trust and Diana from Carers Lewisham gave an insight into what carers are and what they do, information about the charity/organization they work for and how they help Carers. After that we had dessert; Homemade carrot and raisin cake and ice cream made by my friend Dee, yum!!
Then it was time for the raffle draw; the 1st prize was a gift voucher worth £30 from Magi Gifts, 2nd runner up – a pair of Curzon Cinema tickets and a signed (by Michael Sheen) Hamlet Programme , 3rd runner up was a gorgeous bangle from Shop In-spire, the 4th prize was a pair of cards from Ma Nubiah and cupcakes were won also.
Lastly Tina performed 2 poems- the room was dead silent as Tina captivated the entire room. You can listen to her poem ‘My Page Is Blank‘ from Matthew’s audio blog below starting at 10.50. She also performed ‘In Love With The Beat‘. (Video should be up soon)
Matthew done a nice audio blog about the event- which includes pictures/slideshow.
Linda and Philly J from the ‘Linda E & Philly J Show’ were kind enough to talk about the
event on their show:0) Click below- details about the event starts at the 14.15 mark
Crystal King (Founder of Celebrity Creations Management and The Pamper Sessions) was not only kind enough to feature the Fundraising for Carers Event on her blog She Inspired Her but gave all the guests including myself free tickets to The Pamper Sessions.
“I’m glad I could part of this event that was organised very kindly by Antonia to raise money for Carers Trust and Carers Lewisham. This money will help towards our work to help the 7 million carers in the UK, and I cannot thank Antonia enough and all those who volunteered today, for their time and contributions.”– Lydie from Carers Trust
We were able to raise £212.55 (which was decided to go to Carers Lewisham who were generous to let us use the centre for the day. Click here to see how your donations has helped) and after the event people have also been donating online in honor of the event :- ) wow thank you so much!!!!! To everyone who participated, contributed and helped spread the word about the event i am forever grateful!! If you would like to make a donation to either/both charities please click below:
