In honour of Carers Week, we wanted to put together a little snapshot of the what a carer’s life can be like, both the struggles and the triumphs. We really admire the honesty and good humour of the twitter account @DazeInOurLives. The woman that writes it is a carer for her mum, who has Alzheimer’s. She has professional caring experience and occasional respite help, but it’s still a challenge. Here’s some of her story, told in her own words. We think it shows just how important relationships are in care, to the carer, the person being cared for, and the whole network of support (or otherwise) around them in their community.

This past winter, she noticed her mum seemed to be more affected by dementia. The search was on for some back up help…
