Happy Carers Week 2015 | Monday 8th – Sunday 14th June 2015 | Building Carer Friendly Communities | Events |
“Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
This year we’re focusing on building Carer Friendly Communities. Communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.Carers Week is brought to life by the individuals and organisations who come together to organise activities and events throughout the UK, drawing attention to just how important caring is.” – Carers UK
Also on Radio 2 Jeremy Vine will be presenting ‘Looking after Dementia Carers’ tomorrow at 12pm, and will be highlighting carers all week. Tomorrow he will be talking to; Tommy Whitelaw-gave up a successful career in the music business to care full-time for his mother with dementia. He speaks to Jeremy Vine about his truly inspirational campaign to improve conditions for the army of unpaid carers of people with dementia.
Carers Trust will be having a coffee/tea/hot chocolate/smoothie (lol) break webchat, from 10.00am until 11.00am, on Friday 12th June :
“It’s Carers’ Week next week, and, regardless of who you care for, or even if you’re a former carer, we’d love to catch up with you, for a coffee break webchat, from 10.00am until 11.00am, on Friday 12th June. So, if you have a little time free, bring your tea or coffee and maybe a biscuit or two, and join us! We’d love to hear how you’re doing, if maybe you have been involved in anything for Carers’ Week, as well as, of course, which biscuit is the best for dunking!
(Technical bit: if you haven’t been along to the chatroom recently, we’d recommend testing it all works okay before the 12th. You can do that by selecting Online Chat from the drop-down box under Carers Chat. If you need to update Java, this is a quick software update, which shouldn’t take more than a few minutes, but will mean you can join us for that all important cuppa and biscuit!) We hope to catch up with lots of you on the 12th. 🙂 — Carers Trust
Northamptonshire Carers will be having an exciting bake off, tomorrow! Click the picture below for more information.
